From wheel to heart: a Valentine’s experience for two
Looking for a creative and memorable Valentine’s Day date? Spend the evening at the wheel with your one and only and make a heart-shaped bowl together. In this hands-on couple’s workshop, participants will be guided through the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including wedging, centering, opening, and shaping a 2–3 pound ball of clay. Once the bowl is thrown, you’ll learn how to gently form it into a heart shape and personalize it using stamps and underglaze.
This relaxed, social workshop is designed for couples of all experience levels—no prior clay experience is required. Enjoy wine and light snacks while creating a functional ceramic keepsake to commemorate your Valentine’s Day. Finished bowls will be fired after the workshop and ready for pickup in approximately two weeks.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to throw a small bowl on the potter’s wheel, shape the bowl into a heart form, and personalize the surface with decorative details.
Participants are encouraged to bring an apron and a small hand towel if desired. All clay, tools, and equipment will be provided by Jane’s Art Center.
Please note: Participants must be 21 or older. Price is PER COUPLE.

CANCELLATION POLICY
At The Hub on Canal, we strive to offer the best experience for all participants. Please carefully review our cancellation policy below, as there are no exceptions:
- Cancellation and Rescheduling: Due to limited seating, cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 7 days prior to the class start date for a full refund, minus a $25 booking fee. This allows us the opportunity to fill your spot. Cancellations made within 7 days of the class will be refunded at 50% of the class cost, or you may choose a 50% credit toward a future class. If you cancel within 24 hours of the class, no refund will be issued, and 100% of the class cost will be charged.
- No-Shows: Participants who do not attend their class without notifying us in advance will be charged the full amount for the class.
- Cancellation Confirmation: All cancellations must be confirmed by the Director of Education and Outreach. If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this policy, please contact us via phone or email at elaina.johnson@thehuboncanal.org.
- Class Cancellations by The Hub on Canal: In the event a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, participants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance. A full refund will be provided for any canceled class.
